Cathy Faughnan

Cathy describes herself as a visual person and studied design, architecture and urban planning.  She began painting seriously in 2017 and enjoys the challenge of capturing the essence of an object, animal or landscape.  She strives to transform everyday objects and scenes and bring them to life in a modern impressionistic style with the use of strong, clean color.  She allows the paint "do what it wants to" and is always surprised how her idea for a painting translates onto the canvas. Cathy received a Bachelors in Environmental Design from CU Boulder and worked as an urban planner in New York City before returning to her native Colorado. She loves to immerse herself in nature and takes inspiration from the city, rural and mountain landscapes around her.

Cathy is the mother of 3 young adults and lives with my husband and dog Indy in Lafayette, Colorado.  She strives to be a positive influence in her community and has served on then boards of the WOW! Children's Museum, The Boulder Valley YMCA and the Arts Hub.

Cathy has shown her work at The Collective Community Art Center, East Simpson Coffee & Morning Glory Cafe in Lafayette, Boulder Arts and Crafts Gallery & Louisville First Friday Art Walk in various locations. Cathy is a member of the East Boulder County Artist Association (EBCA) and exhibits her work in the EBCA Studio Tour.  She is currently an exhibiting artist at Particulars Gallery in Lafayette CO where she is a member artist and at Western Stars Gallery in Lyons Co.
