I paint because I finally have given myself permission. Mother encouraged me to draw/paint when I was in high school, but I was “too busy." Many decades later my first drawing was of her when she was 21. So pleasant and comforting to see her reflection through my hand. This new world is exciting, connecting and hopeful, revealing and full of potential. Often surprising when I come back to a painting and meet myself on the canvas. Someone asked me about the overlap for painting and my long real estate business. I hadn’t thought about it. “Have you thought that like your business, you work sometimes a long time without knowing what the outcome will be, but always hopeful.” Yes the hope. The possibilities are always there. And I love living in possibilities. The light has a million faces. Translating the face of light I see is a privilege, a challenge and a joy.
